AVATARS WHO CARE

I am so happy with the positive encouragement that the AVATARS WHO CARE list has managed to start! Already it has started a barrage of goodwill and happiness from various sectors who were honored in the magazine. The list was started last year to be featured for the DECEMBER issue of HodgePodge but due to RL issues and commitments, we only just featured AVATARS WHO CARE this month.

Goldie, of the INVESTMENT EDUCATION TEAM has expressed her sincere thanks for being honored. The banking and finance sector has suffered a huge blow due to the LL’s implementation of the banking ban, and their efforts over the last year and before the ban occurred had been tremendous. I sincerely hope that LL will come up with a solution really soon, so that those who are legitimate and honorable business affected by the ban will reemerge and pick up the pieces. Yet despite of the ban, I know that some companies affected by it are undergoing some sort of REINVENTION to better accommodate the settings that LL has currently setup.

Cherlindrea Lamont of the Fabfree blog, has created a skin in thanks to the honor. I have been actively seeking her out ever since I discovered her blog not too long ago and we are working on a collaboration. Cher and the other representatives of the FABFREE blog are doing something good and honorable and it was a pleasure to publicly praise them for their efforts in contributing in SL freebies that are unique, excellently made, and most of all not over saturated copies. I think Cher and her team has something going on here that will greatly benefit designers and freebie collectors as well. It is my fervent hope that their cause will grow and will benefit everyone in SL.

Thank you to those who have contributed from this blog and to those who IMed me their nominees. Your gratitude to the people you have credited is now shared to the public and everyone will be encouraged to do more good in SL.

If I may be so bold to predict, AVATARS WHO CARE will grow as a great honor roll to those who are making SL a better place. There are plenty of accolades for content creators, designers, and the like, but it is a rare opportunity to be able to feature the unsung heroes of Second Life, the people who may or may not know how to create content, but are savvy and intelligent in their chosen field enough to offer something truly unique and of better use to the community at large.

We had a modest start to the list, but I am confident that as the magazine spreads, and news of the list is carried out, we will gain momentum and feature more unsung heroes in Second Life.

It has been HodgePodge’s pleasure of honoring AVATARS WHO CARE!
